⌚ Edinburgh-based UNA Watch launched a Kickstarter for its modular sports watch, allowing users to replace individual components instead of discarding the whole device. With 22 days remaining, the amount raise stands at £211k, blasting through their initial goal of £10,000. Backed by £300,000 from SFC Capital and a £100,000 Scottish EDGE prize, the startup aims to raise £500,000 through 2,500 pre-orders in the UK and US. 🏆 The European Chatbot & Conversational AI Summit in Edinburgh spotlighted top AI startups, with over 300 attendees exploring the future of generative AI. Five finalists pitched their innovations, with Scotland’s GoLLM winning Best Pitch for AI-powered public sector analytics and UnityFlow.ai earning Best Poster for inclusive transcription tech. PR
🎮 Eight Scottish game startups will visit Japan from April 5 to pitch to investors at SEGA Sammy’s Tunnel Tokyo incubator and showcase at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka. Participants include Glasgow-based BearHammer Games (VR and game design), Dundee-based Konglomerate Games (develops video game technology for sectors like healthcare and education), Glasgow-based Buildstash (helps game developers manage iOS and Android apps), among others. 💰 New Fund: The British Business Bank has invested €20M in Revaia’s Sustainable Innovation Growth Fund to support UK and European tech scale-ups focused on sustainability. The fund, “aids mission-driven entrepreneurs from growth stage to IPO, aligning with the Bank’s goals of improving access to capital and fostering a green economy”. DGT
😷 Edinburgh-based startup Mask Logic raised £780,000 through a combination of seed funding and grants to launch its reusable face mask, uniquely tailored to each individual's face. The funding, led by Equity Gap with support from Scottish Enterprise, Old College Capital, and Apollo Informal Investment, will help bring the innovation to market. IN ACS SFN
♻️ This is cool: Engineers from the University of Glasgow in collaboration with colleagues from the Łukasiewicz Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (IMiF) in Poland have developed biodegradable, screen-printed sensors that decompose into nutrients while monitoring crop health. Paired with electronics, they wirelessly transmit data to help farmers boost yields and cut e-waste. FS
